
Audi seems in no mood to leave any space for others in the sport car arena. The brand has revealed the new Audi TT GT4 racer which is to go on a demonstration event at the Shanghai with driver Frank Biela at the wheel. The vehicle has been developed by Technical Development and the Production divisions plus quattro GmbH and is targeted as a base option for affordable motorsports customers in 2012.
Featuring a reinforced TT body, roll cage, reinforced fuel tank amongst other required modifications, there aren’t official details about powertrain from Audi except that it’ll be equipped with TFSI engine that produces 340hp. The TTGT4 is to be mated with an S Tronic transmission with a different lock, a modified production suspension with adjustable dampers plus .5 x 18 inch light alloy wheels.
The racer features the same front and rear apron, rear wing stem from the production version of the TT RS. In order to reduce the weight of the vehicle considerably, new Audi TT GT4 has its hood, doors and trunk lid are made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic in addition to plastic windows. It’ll be sold in Europe and on the Asian and is priced at 120,000 Euros.
