Mini Coupe prototype teased, full engine lineup revealed

Mini has just released the first official details on the company's upcoming Coupe. In Europe, the two-seater will be available with a range of diesel and gasoline engines, spanning from a 1.6-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder good for 122 horsepower to a turbocharged 1.6-liter four pot with 211 ponies. In between, a 2.0-liter turbodiesel four-pot with 143 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque is available, as is a more modestly turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder good for 184 hp. As you might expect, our cousins across the pond will be able to choose between four trims, including Cooper Coupe, Cooper S Coupe, John Cooper Works Coupe and Cooper SD Coupe.

Mini says that its creation should serve as a kick in the pants for the compact sports car segment, but we're guessing that the company is also hoping the Coupe will do the same for the automaker's sales. So far, there's no word on pricing or availability, but with hard details now out on the table, odds are it won't be long before buyers will be able to get their hands on a set of keys. Hit the jump for the full press blast.
