It seems that rising sales that touched 2,711 last year – highest ever since BMW took over – in US, Asia and Middle East might surely have left the Rolls Royce facing the hovering question: What’s next? The brand perhaps got answer in Electric version of Rolls-Royce Phantom luxury car. Well, at 15 miles to a gallon, Rolls Royce wasn’t a car for eco geeks ever, but brand doesn’t seem to leave even a single corner in the time to come where there it doesn’t have influence. As a result, Rolls-Royce is planning an electric limousine, which would be rechargeable and will offer a luxury commute with zero emission.

Though we already heard in the past that an electric Rolls Royce is to become reality by 2010 but that didn’t happen. However, hopes have risen once again with Rolls-Royce’s chief executive officer, Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes, confirming that all options for alternatively-fueled vehicles were being considered. The super eco-friendly luxury Rolls Royce phantom could be a reality by 2012 Olympics where parent company BMW will use the cars with electric and environmentally-friendly technology to ferry 80,000 VIPs to and from venues.
